“Not Fast–But Definitely Cool”
Not every e-bike needs to be fast to be fun — and the Macfox X7 is proof of that.
This mini-moto-style e-bike blends bold styling, top-tier build quality, and thoughtful design into a package that’s as family-friendly as it is cool.
With a top speed of 25 mph, the X7 isn’t built to set records — it’s built to get kids, teens, and new riders safely into the e-bike world without sacrificing looks or quality.

First Impressions
The X7 is one of those bikes that instantly makes you smile just looking at it. The color-matched paint, fat tires, and minimalist frame give it that “mini-Super73” vibe — but with Macfox’s own twist.
The frame design features a notched top tube, lowering the standover height for shorter riders, and the whole bike feels solidly built.
At $1,599, it’s not cheap, but the craftsmanship is there — from the welds to the paint to the branding details like the embossed Macfox tail badge and custom grips.
Available in three colors — Desert Cream, Blue, and Black — the X7’s finish quality is easily on par with the most expensive bikes. Even little touches, like the integrated grab handle and heavy-duty rear footpegs, show real attention to detail.

Motor, Battery & Speed
The Macfox X7 runs a 500W nominal (750W peak) rear hub motor powered by a 48V battery, limited by software to 25 mph on throttle or pedal assist.
Acceleration is smooth, predictable, and very beginner-friendly — no sudden jerks or wheel-spinning torque bursts here.
Sure, you can find faster 48V bikes at lower prices, but that’s not the X7’s purpose. It’s designed to be approachable, safe, and durable — perfect for younger riders or anyone who doesn’t need 30+ mph speeds.
On flat roads, it comfortably cruises at 23–25 mph, and while hill climbing isn’t its strong suit, it maintains solid mid-range performance for casual riding.
Tires & Ride Quality
One of the biggest standouts is the tire setup. The X7 rolls on oversized 20×5″ rear and 20×4.5″ front tires, giving it an aggressive stance and noticeably better traction than standard 4″ fat-tire bikes.
The wider footprint makes the ride feel planted and stable, even at full speed. The downside is added rolling resistance and slightly heavier steering — but the trade-off in comfort and style is worth it.
There’s no rear suspension (it’s a hardtail), which is disappointing at this price point. You’ll feel potholes and rough patches more than on a dual-suspension e-bike, but the cushioned seat and tire volume do a decent job of soaking up bumps.even at full throttle.
Pros
- Premium styling and build quality
- Super stable ride from oversized tires
- Kid-friendly 25 mph limit
- Excellent paint and attention to detail
- Smooth, refined throttle response
- Passenger-ready seat and footpegs
Cons
- No rear suspension
- Slightly underpowered for the price
- Basic LCD display for a premium bike
- Heavy for its size
Handling, Comfort & Features
The frame geometry is compact and easy to manage. At 5’9″, I could flat-foot it comfortably, but taller riders may find it cramped — further evidence that this bike was designed with teens and smaller adults in mind.
The seat is long enough for a second passenger, and those rear footpegs are strong enough to support full weight — not the flimsy bolt-ons you see on cheaper bikes.
Up front, you get a Super73-style headlight with high and low beams, hydraulic brakes (rebranded DYISLANDs I assume), and a simple but backlit LCD display. It’s not fancy, but it’s functional and easy to read in sunlight.
Other highlights include:
- Optional dual-battery version for extended range
- Color-matched handlebars and grips
- Expandable rear mounts for racks or accessories
- Solid, rattle-free construction
Performance & Range
With its 48V 13Ah battery, you can expect 20–25 miles of range on throttle-only, or up to 35 miles with light pedaling. The limited top speed actually helps extend runtime — and for most neighborhood cruising or short commutes, the range feels more than adequate.
The X7’s controller tuning is smooth and refined, giving it a premium ride feel compared to most bikes in the $1K–$1.5K range. It’s easy to forget this is technically a “beginner’s” e-bike because of how solid it feels on the road.
Final Verdict: Built for Fun, Not for Speed
The Macfox X7 is one of those bikes that just feels special. Every weld, paint line, and branded detail shows care and craftsmanship — something you rarely see under $2,000.
Sure, you could find a faster 48V bike for less money. But few will match the styling, quality, and kid-friendly versatility of the X7. It’s a bike that looks fast, rides great, and keeps safety in check — perfect for teens, smaller riders, or anyone who values design and comfort over raw power.
If you want a safe, stylish, and premium-feeling e-bike that stands out from the crowd, the Macfox X7 deserves a serious look.
