The Ausom K20 Pro is a budget dual-motor electric scooter that delivers much more performance than its price suggests. It combines dual motors, a 48V 18Ah battery, full suspension, lighting, turn signals, NFC security, and a GPS-verified 36 mph top speed in a package currently listed at $729.
Overview
For around $700, Ausom gives the K20 Pro dual motors, a fairly large battery, front and rear suspension, turn signals, deck lighting, NFC security, and a claimed top speed of 36 mph. The big question is not whether the specification sheet looks impressive; It’s where Ausom had to cut corners to reach this price.
The good news is that the most important part of the scooter—the actual riding experience—is better than expected.
The K20 Pro does not have the violent, awkward launch that makes some inexpensive dual-motor scooters feel like a front-wheel-drive shopping cart in the rain. It eases into the power, finds traction, and then starts pulling harder once it is already moving.
Ausom currently lists the K20 Pro, also referred to as the Laluz 2 Pro, at $729, down from a listed regular price of $879. The official specifications include dual 1400W peak motors, an 864Wh battery, a 36 mph top speed, and up to 56 miles of claimed range.

Performance: Motor and Speed
The K20 Pro uses a motor in each wheel, with Ausom listing each motor at 1400W peak for a combined peak output of 2800W. The company also claims a combined 56 Nm of torque and the ability to handle grades up to 33%.
Single-motor mode is very usable. The power comes in gently, and the scooter reaches 20 mph without feeling intimidating. It continues into the upper 20s, but acceleration begins to slow noticeably as it approaches 30 mph.
For a newer rider, single-motor mode is probably the best place to start. It’s quick enough for normal riding but much easier to manage.
Dual-motor mode wakes the scooter up.
With both motors engaged, the front tire can spin slightly off the line, but the controller does a good job of easing into the power instead of immediately trying to wash out the front wheel. Once the scooter is rolling, it gives noticeably stronger acceleration and gets to 30 mph much more quickly.
The top-speed claim also held up. During testing, the K20 Pro reached a true 36 mph, matching Ausom’s advertised figure. That is impressive performance for something in this price range.
The power delivery is probably the best part of the scooter. It feels fast, but not stupid. Some dual-motor scooters are technically quicker while also being less enjoyable because every throttle input feels unrefined. The K20 Pro is much easier to ride smoothly.
Battery: Specs and Range
The K20 Pro has a 48V 18Ah battery, giving it a total capacity of 864Wh. The battery is built into the deck and is not designed to be quickly removed or swapped. Ausom claims up to 56 miles of range, with a listed charging time of approximately nine hours using the included 54.6V 2A charger.
As usual, that maximum range is going to depend heavily on how the scooter is ridden.
After approximately 13 miles of mostly fast dual-motor riding, the scooter was sitting around half battery, with the display showing approximately 47–48 volts at rest. Under hard dual-motor acceleration, voltage dropped into the mid-40s, and the scooter was starting to lose a little of its punch.
A realistic range estimate would be:
- 20–30 miles with aggressive dual-motor riding
- 30–40 miles with mixed single- and dual-motor use
- Closer to the claimed range only at low speeds in single-motor mode
Ausom’s 56-mile number may be possible under gentle test conditions, but most people buying a dual-motor scooter are not going to spend the entire ride doing 8 mph in the slowest mode.
For normal real-world use, around half the official claim is a much safer expectation.

Comfort and Build Quality
The K20 Pro feels solid for a budget scooter.
It uses front and rear suspension, along with 10-inch tires, to take some of the harshness out of broken pavement and light off-road riding. Ausom describes its ShocFree suspension system as using a reinforced front fork and a rear swingarm with a spring shock.
The suspension works well enough on pavement, grass, small branches, and rougher ungraded surfaces. It is not going to feel like an electric dirt bike because the wheels are still only 10 inches, but it can handle light off-road sections better than expected.
Hill-climbing performance was another pleasant surprise. In dual-motor mode, the K20 Pro clawed its way up steep grassy hills without needing pedals—because, unfortunately, scooters still have not figured out how to grow those.
The deck is a little small for my preference. There is a raised rear footrest, but keeping one foot on it put my knee in a slightly uncomfortable position. I preferred standing with both feet on the main deck.
Ausom officially lists the deck at 20.5 by 7.3 inches, with a maximum load capacity of 287 pounds. The scooter weighs 66.1 pounds, so it is portable in the sense that it folds and fits into a vehicle, not in the sense that anyone will enjoy carrying it through an airport.
The handlebars are not height-adjustable, so fit will depend partly on rider height. The grips are comfortable, the folding mechanism feels straightforward, and the scooter stayed stable at its maximum speed.
Other Unique Features
The K20 Pro has an unusually complete feature set for a scooter around this price.
NFC security
The scooter can be unlocked using NFC cards, and Ausom includes three cards in the box. The official product page also lists phone NFC and password unlocking, although the scooter does not currently support full app control.
That added security is useful for a commuter scooter, even though it does not replace physically locking the scooter to something.
Folding frame
The K20 Pro folds down by releasing the locking mechanism at the base of the stem. A hook near the handlebars connects to the rear portion of the deck to keep it folded and also doubles as a bag hook while riding.
At 66 pounds, it is not something I would want to carry for long, but it should fit into most trunks, hatchbacks, and larger back seats.
Lighting and turn signals
The scooter includes:
- A front headlight
- Rear tail/brake lighting
- Integrated turn signals
- Blue ambient deck lights
The handlebar-mounted turn signals are a smart design choice. Signals mounted low near a scooter deck can be difficult for drivers to see, while these sit much closer to eye level.
Backlit controls
The single/dual-motor button is illuminated, making it easy to confirm which mode is active at night.
LCD display
The 4.5-inch LCD shows speed, battery information, ride mode, and other basic information. It looks good, but direct sunlight makes it difficult to read.
Trigger throttle
The K20 Pro uses a trigger-style throttle. It allows precise inputs, but it is not my favorite control layout. I would personally prefer a thumb throttle for longer rides.
Negatives
The mechanical brakes are the most obvious compromise.
The K20 Pro uses front and rear mechanical disc brakes assisted by regenerative braking and E-ABS. Stopping power was strong, and the scooter could stop hard enough to briefly lift weight off the rear. However, the rear wheel still locked during testing, so the electronic braking system did not completely prevent skidding.
The brakes work, but hydraulic brakes would provide better lever feel, easier modulation, and less frequent adjustment. At this price, though, the mechanical setup is understandable.
The display is another weak point. It can be difficult to read in bright daylight, which is frustrating when trying to check speed or battery level.
The deck could also be larger. Ausom calls it spacious, but foot placement felt somewhat limited in practice, especially when trying to use the rear footrest.
The trigger throttle will be another personal-preference issue. It gives good control, but holding it for an extended ride can be less comfortable than a thumb throttle.
Finally, the 56-mile range claim is optimistic for anyone using the scooter the way its dual motors encourage. Hard riding drains the 48V battery quickly, and acceleration becomes slightly less energetic as the voltage drops.

Final Thoughts
The Ausom K20 Pro is a great example of how much performance is now available in a budget electric scooter.
It is not perfect. The mechanical brakes, small deck, dim display, and trigger throttle all remind me that this is still an affordable model. But Ausom spent the money in the right places. It is genuinely quick, the dual-motor system is well controlled, the battery is reasonably large, and the scooter feels stable at its 36 mph top speed.
That controllable power delivery is what impressed me most. The K20 Pro does not immediately try to spin the front tire and throw the rider into a bush. It gives enough power to be exciting while remaining approachable enough that single-motor mode could work well for someone moving up from a slower commuter scooter.
At the current $729 price, the K20 Pro offers a lot: dual motors, full suspension, a large battery, lights, turn signals, NFC security, and verified performance that matches the advertised top speed.
For someone looking for an affordable scooter that can commute during the week, handle some light trails, and still provide enough speed to be fun, the K20 Pro is easy to recommend.
It is more than a good specification sheet. It is actually a good scooter.
