Hiley Tiger 10 V5 Review — Scary Fast, With a Luxurious Ride

Amped Cycle Reviews

Scary Fast, Comfortable Ride

The world of electric scooters is filled with bright LED's and 40+mph top speeds. Today, we find out how Hiley managed to make a scooter so fast, yet so comfortable.

First Impressions

Hiley went with a black-and-gold color scheme, and it works. It looks clean, subtle, and a little more grown-up than a lot of the flashy “gaming PC on wheels” scooters out there. The deck LEDs are customizable too, which is a nice touch. Instead of being stuck with rainbow RGB all the time, the lights can actually be set to something semi-tasteful. Gold matched the rest of the scooter really well.

The build quality also stands out right away. The Tiger 10 V5 feels solid, and at 69 pounds, it’s actually lighter than a lot of scooters in this speed class. That makes a difference. It still isn’t exactly something to carry around for fun, but compared to a lot of 80- to 100-pound competitors, this one is much easier to move around or throw into the back of a vehicle.

Power and Speed

This scooter has two 60V motors with a combined peak output of over 3,500 watts, and it absolutely feels like it. In dual-motor mode, especially in the upper assist levels, the Tiger 10 V5 is downright ridiculous. It rips hard enough that the front wheel can spin while already moving at speed, which is honestly nonsense in the best possible way.

Top speed got up to 48 mph, which is more than enough to make things feel a little sketchy standing on ten-inch wheels. The lower assist levels are tuned really well though, and that matters. The scooter doesn’t feel insane all the time. In the lower modes, it’s calm, controlled, and easy to ride. That makes the Tiger feel more practical than a lot of hyper scooters, because it can actually be ridden without hanging on for dear life every second.

That balance is one of the best parts of the scooter. It has the power to be stupid fast, but it doesn’t force that experience constantly.

Suspension and Ride Quality

For a scooter, the suspension is excellent. Honestly, it’s some of the best suspension I’ve felt on a scooter so far. It’s adjustable front and rear, and even before playing with the settings, it already felt more comfortable than most scooters in this category.

That said, physics is still physics. This is still a scooter with 10-inch wheels, so rough sections and potholes are always going to feel harsher than they would on an e-bike. On grass and lighter off-road sections, the Tiger did far better than expected, but the wheel size still limits how confidently it can deal with bigger holes and rough trail chatter. The suspension helps a lot, but it can’t fully erase the reality of riding tiny wheels at 40-plus mph.

On smooth pavement, though, the scooter feels genuinely impressive. It rides comfortably, stays composed, and gives a lot of confidence for something this fast.

Amped Pros

What We Liked

  • Very fast, with real high-40s performance
  • Surprisingly comfortable for a 10-inch scooter
  • Excellent adjustable suspension
  • Strong hydraulic brakes
  • Lightweight for the class
  • Front and rear turn signals are a real plus
  • Good-looking, customizable lighting without feeling cheesy
  • Strong overall build quality

Amped Cons

What Could Be Better

  • Gets a little unstable at higher speeds
  • Steering damper feels like a worthwhile add-on
  • Deck is a bit cramped
  • Shorter wheelbase than ideal for this level of speed
  • Regen/front brake setup takes some getting used to

Brakes and Control

The Tiger 10 V5 comes with Nutt hydraulic brakes plus regen braking, and stopping power is definitely not an issue. If anything, the bigger learning curve is managing how aggressive the brakes can feel. The front brake bites hard, and the regen can really grab too, especially when the rider isn’t fully in sync with which lever is doing what.

Once things clicked, the braking setup felt really strong. This is exactly the kind of scooter that needs real brakes, and thankfully Hiley didn’t cheap out there.

The thumb throttle is also worth mentioning because it feels really easy to modulate, which is important when there’s this much power on tap. A jerky throttle on a scooter like this would be awful. Fortunately, that’s not the case here.

Features

Hiley loaded this thing up with useful features:

  • NFC unlock
  • front and rear turn signals
  • bright headlight
  • tail light / brake light
  • walk mode
  • customizable deck LEDs
  • dual charging ports
  • Samsung 60V 25Ah battery
  • IPX7 waterproof rating claimed by Hiley

That’s a strong list. The front turn signals are especially nice, because a lot of scooters skip those and only give rear indicators. This one actually feels like it was built with real street use in mind.

The only small miss is that the deck is a little cramped. With average-sized feet it works fine, but the platform could definitely be bigger considering the speed this thing is capable of.

Range

The Tiger 10 V5 uses a 60V 25Ah Samsung battery, which works out to roughly 1,500Wh. That’s a healthy battery, and it showed during the ride. After around 12 to 13 miles of mostly hard riding in dual-motor mode, the scooter was sitting around 55% battery, with some sag from riding aggressively. That suggests pretty solid real-world range for something this fast.

A full “normal person” range test would likely end up quite a bit better than that. But on a scooter like this, range almost feels secondary. The real point is the performance, and the battery feels big enough that range anxiety doesn’t really enter the conversation.

The Downsides

There really aren’t many major complaints, but there are a couple.

The first is high-speed stability. At 45-plus mph, the scooter started to feel a little wobbly, and that’s where a steering damper would make a lot of sense. Hiley does offer one as an add-on, and honestly, it feels like something that should be strongly considered if the scooter is going to live in those upper speed ranges.

The second is the deck size / wheelbase. For how fast the Tiger is, a slightly larger platform and a bit more length would probably make it feel even more stable and more comfortable.

Neither issue ruins the scooter, but both are noticeable.

Final Verdict

The Hiley Tiger 10 V5 ended up being a really impressive scooter. It’s brutally fast, it’s more comfortable than expected, and it feels well-built enough to justify the price. It still has the usual scooter limitations — tiny wheels, some high-speed sketchiness, and a deck that could be bigger — but for what it is, it does a lot right.

This isn’t a casual little last-mile scooter. It’s a full-on performance machine that just happens to be practical enough to use every day too. That’s what makes it cool. The Tiger 10 V5 feels like it actually earns its price tag.
