Otida X2 – A Sleeper E-Bike No One Would Expect

Amped Cycle Reviews

Sleeper Styling, Dual Motor Performance

The OTIDA X2 is one of the most interesting “sleeper” e-bikes I’ve tested because it looks like a fairly normal 26-inch fat tire mountain bike, but it hides a dual-motor 52V setup that can push this thing over 38 mph in the real world.

First Impressions

At first glance, the OTIDA X2 doesn’t look like some crazy performance e-bike. It looks like a big fat tire mountain bike with a battery in the middle. But once you look closer — the front hub motor, the rear hub motor, the huge battery, the full suspension — it becomes obvious that this is not a normal bike.

That is what makes the X2 cool.

With all the talk around e-bike laws and crackdowns, there is something appealing about a bike that does not look like a mini dirt bike or a moped. This thing is fast, powerful, and capable, but it does not instantly draw attention the way a Sur-Ron-style bike would.

It is basically the e-bike version of a sleeper car. It looks pretty normal until the throttle gets twisted.

Performance: Motor and Speed

The OTIDA X2 uses dual 1500W hub motors, giving it 3000W total output. One motor sits in the rear wheel, and the other sits up front. That gives the bike a few different personalities depending on how it is ridden.

In rear-motor-only mode, it feels like a normal e-bike. It gets up to around 28 mph, which is already plenty quick for casual riding.

In front-motor-only mode, things feel a little weird. It almost feels like a front-wheel-drive car because the front end wants to pull the bike along. It works, but I do not really see a great reason to ride it that way most of the time.

In dual-motor mode, the bike wakes up. The power delivery is still pretty gentle off the line, but once it gets moving, the X2 starts pulling hard. Real-world top speed landed around 38 mph, which is right in the range OTIDA claims with its 38–42 mph top speed estimate.

The included hydraulic brakes are also a great feature

The interesting thing is that it does not feel like a wheelie machine or some violent, uncontrollable dual-motor bike. It eases into the power. That makes it easier to ride, but it also means the launch is not as punchy as expected. Once momentum builds, though, this thing moves.

Battery: Specs and Range

The X2 comes with a 52V 30Ah battery, which is a huge battery for a bike under this price range. That is one of the best parts of this bike.

During the ride, the battery bar barely moved after several miles of riding in dual-motor mode, which is pretty impressive considering this bike was being ridden hard. OTIDA claims around 40–60 miles of range, and while that always depends on throttle use, rider weight, terrain, and motor mode, this battery setup should give plenty of real-world range.

Realistically, I would expect something like:

  • 25–35 miles if riding aggressively in dual-motor mode
  • 40+ miles if riding more calmly or using single-motor mode
  • Potentially more with lower pedal assist and actual pedaling

For a dual-motor bike that can hit high-30s speed, that is a strong battery setup.

Comfort and Build Quality

The OTIDA X2 is a big bike. With its 26-inch fat tires, it feels tall, substantial, and more like a truck compared to a smaller 20-inch moped-style e-bike. That can be a good or bad thing depending on rider size.

At around 5’9″, this feels like about the lower limit of what makes sense. The seat was nearly all the way down, and while the bike was still manageable, this is definitely going to feel better for taller riders.

The ride quality is surprisingly good. The combination of:

  • 26-inch wheels
  • fat tires
  • front suspension
  • rear suspension

makes the X2 handle bumps better than expected. Off-road, the bike feels capable, but also tall. That high riding position can feel a little less natural when ripping across grass or rough terrain compared to a smaller 20-inch bike or an actual e-moto.

The suspension feels soft enough to actually do something, especially the rear. It is not dirt-bike-level suspension, but for a fat tire mountain bike-style e-bike, it works well.

The brakes are also a strong point. The X2 uses Logan hydraulic brakes, and those are some of the better brakes I’ve tested on affordable e-bikes. That matters a lot here because 26-inch wheels are heavy, and a bike pushing close to 40 mph needs real stopping power.

The seat is just okay. It is a regular bicycle-style saddle, and for long rides on a powerful e-bike, I am still not a huge fan of that. If this were my bike, the seat would probably be one of the first things I swapped.

Other Unique Features

The biggest unique feature is obviously the stealth factor. A lot of fast e-bikes look fast. The OTIDA X2 does not. It looks like a big fat tire mountain bike, and that is kind of the whole point.

Other nice features include:

  • Dual motor mode switching
  • Ability to ride rear motor only, front motor only, or dual motor
  • Included saddle bags
  • Bright headlight
  • Loud horn
  • Bright tail/brake light
  • Backlit display that is readable in daylight
  • Big 26-inch wheels for taller riders
  • Claimed 500 lb max load
  • 52V 30Ah battery at a strong price point

The saddle bags are a nice touch. A lot of companies skip practical accessories like that, so it is cool to see them included. The bike still looks good with the bags installed, and they actually make it more useful.

The styling also works. The black and gold look with green accents has a cool 90s mountain bike vibe. It stands out without looking childish.

Negatives

The OTIDA X2 gets a lot right, but it is not perfect.

The first issue is the soft launch. For a dual-motor 3000W bike, I expected a little more punch off the line. It is probably tuned that way intentionally, and it does make the bike easier to control, but it also takes away some of that “wow” factor from a stop.

The second issue is the pedal assist tuning. Pedal assist one takes the bike up to around 20 mph and then cuts off, which feels strange. It does not feel like a smooth, natural assist system. It feels more like the bike wants to blast up to a set speed and then stop helping.

The third issue is size. This is a big bike. Smaller riders are probably going to feel stretched or too high up. This is much better suited to taller riders or anyone who likes the feel of a full-size 26-inch fat tire bike.

The tires are also pretty basic. They work, but long-term I would probably upgrade them, especially if the bike was going to see a lot of street riding.

Amped Pros

What We Liked

  • Stealthy design that looks like a normal fat tire mountain bike
  • Dual 1500W motors give strong top-end performance
  • Real-world top speed around 38 mph
  • Large 52V 30Ah battery
  • Full suspension actually helps ride quality
  • Logan hydraulic brakes feel strong and appropriate
  • Great option for taller riders
  • Included saddle bags are actually useful
  • Bright lights and loud horn
  • Strong value for the amount of power and battery

Amped Cons

What Could Be Better

  • Soft launch for a dual-motor bike
  • Pedal assist tuning feels weird
  • Big frame may be too tall for shorter riders
  • Front-motor-only mode feels strange
  • Bicycle-style seat is not ideal for long fast rides
  • Stock tires are basic
  • Heavy bike if pedaling without assist

Final Thoughts

The OTIDA X2 is a really cool bike because it does something different. It offers serious power, a huge battery, dual motors, and near-40 mph performance, but it does all of that while still looking like a fairly normal fat tire mountain bike.

That stealthy design is the biggest reason this bike works. It does not have the same “look at me” problem that a lot of high-powered e-motos and moped-style bikes have. It blends in better, but still has the performance to surprise people.

It is not my usual favorite style of e-bike. I typically lean more toward moped-style and e-moto builds. But for a big 26-inch fat tire mountain bike, the X2 is genuinely impressive.

For taller riders who want a fast, dual-motor e-bike that does not look like a dirt bike, the OTIDA X2 makes a lot of sense. As long as it holds up long-term, this is a strong value and one of the more interesting sleeper e-bikes I’ve tested.
