Amped Cycle Review
Premium Features, Budget Price
Most bikes around this price will leave you wanting more, but Actbest's Strike Plus offers you premium features for a budget price. 52V, 2000W motor, 30+mph top speed, all for under $1000.
First Impressions
The Striker Plus looks great. That’s the first thing that jumped out immediately. It has the same general mini-moped silhouette a lot of these bikes use, but it gets a few details right that make it feel a step above the cheaper clones: the red rear shocks, the metal nameplates, the cleaner graphics, and the fact that the whole thing just looks more expensive than it is.
Actbest currently offers it in black with Aqua Blue decals, black with grey decals, and black with red decals, although the red version was marked sold out on the product page when I checked.
Fit-wise, it felt really good at 5’9″ with a 31-inch inseam. The frame is on the smaller side, but it still felt comfortable and easy to throw around. That compactness actually helps the bike feel more playful than expected. It almost starts to feel like a little motorcycle once it gets moving.

Power and Speed
This is where the Striker Plus starts to get really interesting.
The bike runs a 52V 20Ah battery paired with a 2000W hub motor, which puts it a step above the usual 48V budget crowd. On the road, it consistently felt a little peppier than most of the standard 48V mopeds. That extra voltage doesn’t turn it into a rocket ship, but it does make the bike feel more awake, especially once it gets rolling.
In real riding, the top speed landed more in the 30 to 33 mph range, with the built-in display reading a few mph optimistic. In a little less wind, the bike was able to creep into the low 30s consistently, but it didn’t really behave like a true 37 mph machine. Still, for this price, that’s not a complaint. It’s still fast enough to be fun, and it feels strong doing it.
The 0–20 mph pull also felt pretty solid. It eases into the power a bit rather than snapping off the line, but it still gets moving quickly enough to feel lively. That smoother ramp-up actually makes it easier to ride without the bike feeling twitchy or sloppy.

Ride Quality and Handling
One of the best surprises with the Striker Plus was the handling.
This thing feels really tossable. It has a short wheelbase, a compact frame, and a light front end that gives it a very easygoing, playful feel. It’s the kind of bike that immediately feels confidence-inspiring on pavement. I wasn’t expecting a bike this affordable to feel this planted and this easy to move around.
The rear suspension is a big part of that. It’s definitely on the softer side, and for my weight it actually felt really good. The front fork is firmer and non-adjustable, but the overall ride quality on normal roads was surprisingly nice. On smaller bumps, the Striker Plus does a good job smoothing things out. On rougher off-road sections and bigger undulations, it starts bouncing around more, which is pretty normal for a bike in this class.
Off-road, it has enough power to mess around on trails, grass, and rough paths, but it’s clearly happier as a street bike. The suspension can take the edge off the chatter, but it’s not a real dirt bike.

Brakes
The Striker Plus comes with hydraulic brakes, which is a big deal at this price. The official product page lists hydraulic brakes on the Plus model, and that lines up with what I saw on the bike.
They aren’t super grabby race brakes, but they feel firm, confidence-inspiring, and way better than the cable brakes that usually show up under a thousand bucks. There’s a little bit of hand effort involved in getting the shortest stop possible, but overall they feel like a strong value feature on this bike.

Battery Life and Real-World Range
Actbest claims up to 90 miles of range, which is obviously a best-case PAS number. Real-world riding tells a much more believable story. After about 15 miles, there was still roughly half the battery left, which suggests that real-world range should land somewhere in the 25 to 30 mile neighborhood with mixed riding, maybe more if the pace stays relaxed. That’s still very solid for a bike at this price.
The 52V 20Ah battery gives the bike a lot of credibility here. There’s over 1,000Wh of energy on tap, and that’s one of the reasons the Striker Plus feels like a better deal than most of the usual budget mopeds.

Range
Real-world range felt pretty average for the class, which is honestly fine.
After around 10 miles, the battery was sitting around half charge, so the realistic range picture seems to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 20–25 miles, maybe a little more depending on riding style and how much pedaling is involved.
That’s not class-leading, but it’s not disappointing either. For a bike with this much power and fast charging, average range is easier to forgive.
Amped Pros

Amped Cons
What Could Be Better
- Pedaling is awkward because the heel can hit the rear suspension hardware
- Smaller frame may feel cramped for taller riders
- Real speed falls short of the 37 mph claim
- Steering lock is a little limited
- Basic tires and a few budget-minded details still show through
The Downsides
My heel kept brushing the rear suspension hardware while pedaling, which makes the whole setup feel awkward if actual pedaling is part of the plan. The cadence-sensor assist works, and there are 7 Shimano gears, but practically speaking, this is a throttle-first bike. It’ll pedal in a pinch, but that isn’t where it shines.
The compact frame also means taller riders might feel cramped. I’m not a huge guy, and even I could feel that it was on the smaller side. That compactness helps the handling, but it’s still worth noting for anyone taller.
There’s also a little bit of steering limitation from the forks hitting the frame. It doesn’t ruin the bike, but it’s noticeable when turning tightly or maneuvering slowly.
And while the bike looks more premium than it is, some of the little details still remind me this is a value build. The grips are fine, not amazing. The tires are basic. The display is okay but slightly optimistic on speed. None of that is a dealbreaker at $899, but it’s still there.

Final Verdict
The Actbest Striker Plus ended up being a much better bike than I expected it to be.
At $899, there just isn’t much to complain about here. The Striker Plus looks great, feels good, handles way better than expected, and gets a meaningful bump from that 52V 20Ah setup. It doesn’t hit the full claimed top speed, and it’s definitely more of a throttle bike than a pedal bike, but those feel like pretty small complaints once the price enters the conversation.
For anyone shopping for a moped-style e-bike under $1,000, this absolutely deserves to be on the shortlist. It feels like one of the better bargains in the category right now.
