Amped Cycle Review
Mini Size, Bluetooth Music, and an engine?
The MEELOD T16 is a fun, kid-focused mini e-bike with 16-inch fat tires, a peppy hub motor, RGB lighting, a massive seat, NFC unlock, and a built-in speaker that can play music or fake engine noises.
The Weiner Dog That Packs a Punch
Overview / Intro
The MEELOD T16 feels like a bike built for kids who want something cooler than a normal bicycle, but not quite as serious as a full-on electric dirt bike. It has small 16-inch wheels, a low-slung frame, a huge extended seat, and enough tech features to make it feel more like a toy from the future than a basic e-bike.
MEELOD lists the T16 with a 1000W peak motor, 28+ mph top speed, 25–45 miles of claimed range, mechanical disc brakes, a 48V 13.5Ah battery, and a 330 lb max load. The current listed sale price is $899, down from the regular $999 price.
The whole bike has a playful vibe. RGB lights under the seat, a Bluetooth speaker, fake engine noises, NFC unlocking, and bright color options all make it feel clearly aimed at younger riders. It is not a serious commuter bike. It is not a real dirt bike. It is a small electric fun machine with enough speed to be exciting and enough weird features to stand out.

Performance: Motor and Speed
The T16 uses a 500W sustained / 1000W peak rear hub motor, according to MEELOD’s official specs.
On the road, that motor feels peppy for a bike this small. The 0–20 mph pull was quick enough to make the bike feel lively, and the throttle response felt better than expected for a small hub-motor bike. It does not launch like a true e-moto, but it has more than enough power for neighborhood riding, short trips, and messing around on pavement.
Real-world top speed landed around 27 mph, with the display reading slightly higher at times. MEELOD claims 28 mph, so that result lines up pretty closely with the official number.
That speed is worth pointing out because this bike is marketed toward kids. A nearly 28 mph mini e-bike is not a toy. It is fun, but it still needs to be treated like a real electric vehicle, no matter how small and approachable it seems.
The bike feels best once it is already rolling. Low-end torque is not amazing, especially on grass or hills, but once the motor catches its wind, it moves along nicely. On pavement, it feels smooth, quiet, and quick enough to be a blast.

Battery: Specs and Range
MEELOD currently lists the T16 battery at 48V 13.5Ah / 648Wh, paired with a 48V 3A charger and an estimated 5-hour full charge time.
The claimed range is 25–45 miles, but real-world range depends heavily on speed and throttle use. Riding hard at full throttle pulls the battery down much faster. During the test ride, after about 12 miles, the battery was down to two bars. Based on that ride, a realistic hard-riding range feels closer to about 15 miles.
That is not bad for the kind of bike this is. The T16 is not built for long-distance commuting. It is built for shorter rides, neighborhood cruising, and smaller riders who want something fun and easy to handle. Slower riding and more pedaling should stretch the range farther, but full-throttle riding near 27 mph is going to drain it quickly.

Comfort and Build Quality
The T16 surprised me with how solid it felt. A lot of smaller, cheaper e-bikes can feel like toys, but this one feels more put together than expected.
The ride quality is actually pretty good for such a small bike. It has full suspension, even though the rear shock is tiny. Somehow, that little shock still helps take the edge off bumps. The huge seat also does a lot of work here. It is one of the biggest seats I have seen on a mini e-bike, and it makes the bike feel more comfortable and more moped-like than expected.
MEELOD lists the frame as a 16-inch carbon steel folding frame, with puncture-protection 16×4.0 fat tires, a listed weight of 38 kg, and a max total load rating of 330 lb.
The alloy wheels are another nice touch. A lot of affordable small e-bikes use basic spoked wheels, but the T16 has a more finished look. The motor is also quiet and smooth, which adds to the quality feel.
Pedaling is possible, but this is not really a pedal-first bike. It is a single-speed setup with short cranks, and the bike sits low enough that pedaling aggressively feels a little awkward. It works for casual low-speed riding, but the T16 is clearly more of a throttle-focused mini bike.
Other Unique Features
This is where the T16 really separates itself from other small e-bikes.
The major features include:
- RGB ambient lighting
- Bluetooth speaker
- Motorcycle sound simulation
- NFC keyless unlock
- Extended double seat
- Front light with horn
- Taillight with brake light
- Mechanical disc brakes
- Multiple color options
- UL 2849 certification
MEELOD specifically highlights the RGB lights as both a style feature and a visibility feature for low-light riding.
The Bluetooth speaker is the feature that actually makes the most sense in real use. It gets decently loud, connects to a phone, and turns the bike into a small rolling speaker. That is genuinely useful for casual rides.
The fake engine sound system is much more of a gimmick. It is funny, and kids will probably love it, but it sounds like a car sitting at redline after a while. Thankfully, it can be turned off, leaving the Bluetooth speaker as the useful part.
The headlight and taillight are good to have, and the brake light gets brighter when stopping. The strange part is the red-and-blue flashing light effect when the headlight turns on. It is funny, but it also feels like an odd choice. It could also be very illegal to ride around with red and blue flashing lights, so best to cover them up with tape.

Negatives
The T16 is fun, but there are a few clear limitations.
The biggest one is low-end torque. On pavement, the bike feels peppy. On grass and hills, it struggles more than expected. The off-road hill test was not happening from a dead stop, and it needed momentum or a sideways line to keep going.
The mechanical disc brakes are acceptable, but hydraulic brakes would feel much better. MEELOD lists mechanical disc brakes on the product page, and that matches the ride feel. They stop the bike, but the lever feel is a little vague compared to hydraulics.
The fake engine noises are more novelty than practical feature. They make the bike memorable, but the Bluetooth speaker is the better part of the system.
The range also drops quickly with full-throttle riding. A claimed 25–45 miles is possible only under easier riding conditions. Hard riding puts the real-world number much closer to the mid-teens.
The bike also sits very low, which helps smaller riders but makes aggressive cornering and pedaling something to watch. Pedal or foot contact is possible if the bike gets leaned too far.

Experience With Other MEELOD Bikes
Over the years, we’ve tested multiple bikes from MEELOD, including the DK300 Max, XT600DL, and now the T16. The T16 is the most affordable MEELOD bike we’ve reviewed, but it still manages to feel quality.
MEELOD bikes have never been the cheapest, but they always have felt high quality, and like they really put the effort into building a great bike. Personally, I like MEELOD as a company, and I think they make some unique, fun bikes.
Final Thoughts
The MEELOD T16 is a weird little bike, but in the best way. It feels like MEELOD wanted to make a small e-bike that kids would actually be excited about, and that mission makes sense here.
The RGB lights, Bluetooth speaker, NFC unlock, giant seat, and fun color options all give the T16 a personality that most small e-bikes just do not have. It is not perfect. The brakes are basic, the low-end torque could be better, and the fake engine noises are more funny than useful. But the overall package is still really solid.
For around $899, this is a fun entry-level mini e-bike aimed at younger riders and smaller riders who want something with style, speed, and a little bit of goofiness built in.
It is not a serious dirt bike. It is not a long-range commuter. It is a small electric neighborhood ripper with RGB lights and a Bluetooth speaker — and honestly, that is kind of awesome.
